Prayer
Father John led the
council in prayer.
Call to Order: Sam Cari called the meeting to order at
7:03 pm.
Agenda
The agenda was
approved as presented
Minutes:
The minutes from
the February, meeting were approved as presented.
Parish Administrator:
An ad was placed
for the position in many publications including the parish bulletin. The
committee hoped to have interviews for the position scheduled in
April.
Director of Religious Education:
Maryann Kappler
will be retiring this year after thirteen years of serving the children of the
parish. Mr. Larry Huiras has been hired to start July 1 of this year. Mr.
Huiras has a doctorate degree from Loyal University and has been serving a large parish in
Illinois.
State of the Parish Update:
Sam Cari reported
that he continues to stay in contact with
the Bishop. Father John reported that Kathy Smolinske
agreed to be a part of the new
Diocesan Liaison Committee.
RFP: The council discussed the strengths and
concerns regarding our RFP program. The council agreed that the strengths
included our dedicated volunteers. The council agreed that we need to find a
way to offer more education opportunities for our volunteers in Theology,
Spirituality and teaching methods. The possibility of a once a month mass in
which the youth of the parish would serve as ushers, lectors and greeters with a
social afterwards after the 5 pm. Mass was
discussed.
Liturgy: Reg Klubeck presented the Liturgy
Committee Goals for the year which included: continuing education for the
Liturgy Committee in the Church’s teachings and guidelines, to continue to
inform the members of the parish on the Church’s teachings and guidelines for
worship, and to continue to make the celebration of Holy Week and Easter
powerful and meaningful for our faith community.
