St. Patrick Church Pastoral Council

September 26, 2006 (approved)

 

Present:          Fr. John,   Howard Cameron, Jeanne Darnold, Mary Seyer,  Sam Cari , Carrie Whitacre, Shawn Porter, Mark Sturino, Rich O’Connor, Rick Reams, Sr. Bernadette.

Finance Committee;  Tom Brinsko, Brian Huffman, Jerry Schnobrich, Darlene Krear.

Also present:  Kathy Bates, Gregg Miller, Claire Zajac, Kathy Smolinske, Tim O’Brien, Mary Piasecki, Mark Nelson.

Prayer                        Father John led the council in prayer.

Call to Order: Father John called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm.

Agenda           The agenda was  approved as presented

Minutes:         The minutes from the August, meeting were approved as presented.

Fall Fest:        Father John thanked all members of the parish who assisted and participated in this years Fall Fest.  A wonderful weekend of fellowship and fun was enjoyed by all who came. 

150 Anniversary Celebration:          Mary Seyer reported that a group of parishioners are meeting to plan a celebration of the 150 years of St. Patrick parish.  She will keep the council informed of their plans.

Four Commitments:  In January of 2005, the Bishop Rev. Raphael M. Fliss, came to Hudson to meet with the members of St. Patrick Parish from that meeting the four commitments were formed.  The four commitments are: 1) The Bishop will increase his personal contacts with Seminarians and Priests, 2) The Bishop will increase his involvement with the assignment, evaluation, and mentoring of Priests, 3) The Bishop will increases his connections with Diocesan parishes and schools, and 4) The Bishop will create an external review board with lay people as representatives to address issues not addressed by the board created to address issues regarding the protection of children.

On September 6, Father John and members of the elders team met with the Bishop in Superior to discuss the four commitments.  The Bishop sent a letter to the elders on September 13 summarizing the results of that meeting.  This letter is now posted on the parish Website.  In it the Bishop reiterates his commitment to create an External Pastoral Review Council and to hopefully have it in place by the beginning of the year 2007.

Stewardship:  The stewardship committee reported that a mailing will go out the month of October asking all parishioners to re-register and inviting them to become involved by sharing their time and talent with the parish.  November 11 and 12 will be Stewardship weekend and November 18 and 19 lay members of the parish will be invited to speak on Stewardship.

Finance Committee Report
:  The finance committee previewed the presentation for the Tuesday, October 3, parish wide meeting on the financial state of the parish.  The parish council thanked the members of the finance committee for their work on behalf of all of us in monitoring the finances of the parish.

Adjournment:            The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:25pm.
