Mission to Guatemala: Healing and Faith in Action

Last Thursday, February 6, a group from our parish left Hudson and traveled to our Sister Parish in Guatemala. On their way to Guatemala, they met two doctors and Sister Jo, who founded our sister parish about twenty-seven years ago after working with refugees from Guatemala in Honduras. The first morning they were in the country, the missionaries had breakfast with the local bishop, one of the Sisters from our Sister Parish, and a driver. 

With two doctors, a nurse, and pharmacist, the first group will be focused on providing medical care to the people of the village at our clinic. As patients arrive, a record is started, and blood pressure, height, and weight are taken and recorded. 

The local pastor is only able to travel to our Sister Parish once per month as he is responsible for providing the Sacraments for several churches over a vast region. With Father Dan there, the parish celebrated First Holy Communion.
